I took this while in Nepal filming the "Hillary" drama series, on way to location in Kathmandu.

This was taken on April 15th 2015-10 days before the first of the devastating earthquakes that struck Nepal.

Taken while filming at a Tibetan Monastery in Nepal.  Based at 12,000 feet on a mountainside covered in rhododendrons.

We were welcomed with open arms, great hospitality and possibly one of the best meals I've ever had. I had to film in the monastery during prayers. The only light source was a singe open door and candles so I used my Sony A7s ( PL mount with with zeiss primes) with Ninja recorder at 3200 and 6400 iso.

These gorgeous women watched on as we shot a scene around a plane crash for the "Hillary" drama , on the outskirts of Kathmandu.

They seemed so happy and inquisitive.

Looking back up a street we were filming on..these beautiful people watched us all day and were so helpful and accommodating. We were after all in their place, their community and they welcomed us.

Kathmandu , April 2105.

This young lad spent the day around us as we shot several scenes at an old Monastery ( now a home) on the outskirts of Phaplu , Solukhumbu district , Nepal. He was clearly charged with looking after her for the day. He didn't take his eye off her and would carry her everywhere.

I took this as we were walking out from a location..the road looks ok here but we actually could not access it too well except for a couple of 4wd's loaded with gear...so we walked the 2km to/from set.I wonder about the huge house being built as this is not an affluent area on the outskirts of Kathmandu.

An early 0500 call for a recce to the Waikato river for The Kick tv feature led us up river from Waiuku.....just naturally beautiful. The light and colours were magical.

Our captain taking us up river on the Ganges , Varanasi. Although these quite large long boats are slow they are far quicker than driving through the traffic. Bonus is it is quite magical slowly boating on the Ganges in late afternoon light.

Main street of Phaplu village. Spent 7 days here filming various scenes in the surrounding mountains. Beautiful spirited folk here. The sherpas working with us cooked us stunning meals everyday and no ask or challenge was too great for them.

1800hr one evening. We need to get all our gear up to 12,000 tomorrow morning before sunrise. 1/2 an hour later a large Massey Ferguson tractor arrives with a huge bone crunching trailer , no suspension or shocks , attached. They'll drive it all up a rough track. We'll need padding for all the camera gear. 10 minutes later a pile of foam mattresses arrive. So we all set to building padded storage to transport the camera gear up on the trailer. Success. All gear arrives safely. I did wonder if we'd taken someones bed for the night but even if we had they'd never tell us.

Local man watched us from his window as we recce'd the village at Phaplu , a town in the Solukhumbu district of the Sagarmatha zone in Nepal.

Stopped off for a few days in Sao Paulo to interview Emerson Fitipaldi for Roger Donaldon's "Mclaren"  feature documentary.
